Oct 29 & Oct 30 • 7pm MST & Midnight Right on Time
Thursday 10/29 at 7:00pm, with a repeat Friday 10/30 at Midnight.
Right on Time is a celebration of David Amram’s musical spirit at age 89. He continues to compose and perform around the world.
Join an intimate musical conversation with the American maestro who has collaborated with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Willie Nelson, Pete Seeger, Leonard Bernstein, Duke Ellington and many more.
Sponsored and produced by Music Appreciation Society; directed and filmed by Christopher Kepple, Right on Time captures Amram with members of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and other accomplished musicians as they interpret his chamber work in duos.
Musicians Brook Ferguson, Yumi Hwang-Williams, Sara Parkinson, Joshua Sawicki, Laura Schulkind from Denver and Ken Radnofsky with Yoshiko Kline bring their shining talents to Amram’s stunning classical works.
The film also features seldom seen original drawings by David Amram depicting his friends Jack Kerouac, Gregory Corso, and Allen Ginsberg, and conversations with David Amram exploring his amazing life and his unique and inspiring point of view.
Prior to the "Duos" concert at Dazzle in the historic Baur's building in Denver, we follow Amram as he visits Colorado Public Radio Classical radio station. He also visits and performs at KUVO Jazz radio.
We watch him at the Denver Academy where he inspires students there, encouraging them to follow their artistic expression.
Capturing just a few days in the life of a man who's boundless energy and generous spirit defies age and spans decades in pursuit of music, art and literature.
This film is a powerful statement about the magic of creativity and mentorship, personified by an icon of American Arts, composer and author David Amram.
